Lost my last bird to a blooming fox
« on: May 29, 2013, 08:09 »
 >:( :( :(
My last ISA Brown  :( I had three, two were had by the fox because i got complacent but the third was in fort knox but foxy got her last night. I can only imagine how terrified she'd have been. It took her away as well unlike the last two who were left headless in the run. Wife and two boys very upset this morning. I don't agree with fox hunting but at times like this......

So sorry about your birds.  It shows how determined they are when they have young to feed.

Sorry to hear about your chickens, its such a shame for them and really distressing.  We lost 3 birds to a fox a few weeks ago and since then I've begun the process of getting a rifle to stop the attacks.  Every time we hear the chickens making more noise than ususal, which is similar to thier egg laying celebration but more prolonged, we are down to them like a shot and so far I've witnessed a fox backing away on one of these occasions.  I guess its the time of year the foxes are feeding their cubs so it would be a shame to kill it but I can't see many better options.

I lost all mine to a fox last year, so now its a case of I come in peace, shoot to kill, and get my retaliation in first
It's all about the journey, not the destination

please remember the laws regarding guns and shooting (proximity of dwellings etc).
