my poor little hen has now stopped eating and seems to be lethargic......I managed to tip her up and alot of fluid has come up.....does anyone know how long I shoud do this for? she wont eat anything at all so I am going to try her with some more maggots as she couldn't get enough of them

It could be that the blockage is in the gizzard, unfortunately one of mine died due to this and I had to dispatch another one who was suffering.

If she is suffering I would recommend you take her to a poultry friendly vet or dispatch her.  You don't want her to starve to death which she will do if she is unable to eat.   :(

It could be sour crop.  One of my hens had this and I held her upside down on a regular basis and massaged out the very smelly gunge. I kept her away from the other hens in our warm garage, much to my husbands disgust!  I also gave her some natural yoghurt.  If you google sour crop you will see what I mean. There is even an article in this forum.  She is fine now.

thought I would let you know two weeks ago I took"Molly" (black hen) to vets as she was really struggling......good news though the vet had to perform surgery and empty her crop and she now seems back to her lively little self....so happy :) :) :) :happy: :D
