I think I just found one of these flies in my greenhouse. Like a house fly but with an orange body that is slightly furry. I'm sure it's not a carrot fly and I don't think it is an onion fly either, but I have no idea what it actually is. I squashed it with a finger flick anyway. I hope it wasn't a hover fly (but I don't think it was).

Your one sounds like a dung fly.......

Think I would have sent it on it's way too. I hate doing away with slugs but let's be honest " what good do they do"
I used to love caterpillars before I tried to grow veg.  :mad:

That fly wasn't blessed with good looks was it  :wacko:
