algae
« on: May 09, 2013, 14:38 »
My new plot has a couple of large waterbutts without lids that have a serious amount of algae floating on the top.  What do I do with it?  Just scoop it out and leave on ground to dry out? Do I need to disinfect the butts before using them?

When I come to use them I'll cover them up.

My boy is scared of it - he think's it's got tentacles!  :D

Scoop it out and shove it on the compost heap. That's what we do with duck weed and blanket weed from our pond. We leave it at the side of the pond for an hour to let any wee beasties find their way back into the pond then it's the compost heap
