my rhubarb was late sprouting this year but has started showing at last.  I have 3 clumps and only every force one at a time, this gives the forced one 2 years to recover, tip was given to me by one of the old boys and seems to work well.

The two pictures say it all . The same rhubarb patch - by my reckoning everything is a good 2/3 weeks behind this year. With temperatures rising at the weekend I am expecting things to magically start bursting into life !! :)

Thanks for that mum of stig, and then do the sticks I cut grow again, or am I being way too optimistic? ???

don't cut them - grasp firmly at the bottom of the stalk and twist and pull up and away.
New buds will grow to replace the sticks you have pulled  ;)

is this cold weather affecting anyone else s rhubarb, i have half my crowns under buckets forcing them and half uncoverered. absolutely no difference. any ideas?  :unsure:

Well Taytors...we're only next door to you here in Warwickshire, the barb in the back garden is growing so well we will have some this weekend..(plum & barb crumble with home made ice cream) Now the crowns up the lottie are still a long way off, only last weekend I've planted another 4 crowns a freebie from a fellow plotter.

I also got hold of a small crown of "Canadian Red".... Link which is now sitting in a pot in the greenhouse.
