Hi all,

I have read on here that you can plant closer together in raised beds but I don't know how much closer together 

I have the following started in the greenhouse and was wondering how close together to put them.

Sprouts
Cabbage
Cauli
Broccoli both Calabrise and sprouting types
Kale

My beds are all 4 foot wide and to be honest I don't want massive big veg, there are only 3 of us so I would rather have smaller heads that I can make one dinner out of at a time.

I would say if you have good soil you could have them around 16 inches each way so three evenly spaced in 4ft.

It really depends on the variety...some are dwarfing and some are huge. I've successfully grown assorted brassicas at no more than 12 inches each way but then I don't go for massive plants.

Neither do I as I don't want a 28 lb cabbage thank you     There are quite a few compact brassicas you just have to seek them out in the seed catalogues. Samantha savoy cabbage is small and there are several small caulis.  Not sure about brocs though
