Unfortunately there aren't any hedgehogs, apparently there used to be but not any more.

Make a cheapo but dry hedgehog house. You build it" they will come". If its a dry spring like this year(it was honestly) put down water for the hogs.

Your kindness will be repaid a thousandfold.

Good idea, I can't remember what happened to the previous hedgehog family someone told me, could it have been that they drowned in someone's pond, I'm sure it was something like that.  I must admit I've never heard of any round here, I'll have to ask Noshed!

Your supposed to fill the gaps between floorboards with a mixture of papier mache and PVA glue. I didn't bother when I stripped the dining room floor, and although I don't get slugs, it's bl**dy draughty in the winter.
Growing salad leaves isn't rocket science.

It sure is, unfortunately some of the gaps are more like holes!  Let's just say the wearing of high heels is not recommended in this house, especially stilettos, unless you want to take a floorboard home with you

Sorry Chrissie, did I forget to say how bad it smells?

Slugs,water,bucket,ferment,water on soil,result!

Rob. :D

He forgot to add DILUTE,then water soil.
Other wise you may kill off more than the slugs and the smell will kill you.

About 5-1  should be ok,but 10-1 will also work and is far more bearable.

Just saw on TV Chalie Dimmock on her "Wild Life Garden" programme an excellent way of getting hedgehogs in the garden.
She got 2 from a rescue centre.
You keep them in a wire cage with staw for shelter for 2 weeks, feeding them of course, then release them onto your plot.
They consider the "cage" to be home and return each night.

I love that idea, and hope that those without a hog can follow suit.

Post if you manage to do it.I would love to know.

What a fantastic tip MKH. All the gardens on our site are self-contained, so it would be a great way of introducing a hoggy or two, thanks.

WRT the slug liquid. I have so many organic concoctions on site that I suppose I've just got used to it, although it is particularly putrid mind. I think the smell from the comfrey barrel covers it up most days!

That must make me an organic hero, yippee! :D

I once (and only once was enough) spilt some down my leg and it ran into my boot.
I left the boots off for 5 weeks and they still stunk so much I could not wear them.
I put them in the shed and that began to stink, but those boots never had a slug problem.  8)

Blue slug pellets if you are desperate. Otherwise I find plastic bottles are good on seedlings.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
