3rd April? That gives us about a week before monsoon season starts

Monsoon season is in August these days!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Monsoon season is in August these days!

We can't win really can we? When I grew veg in the garden a few years back I always planted earlier because I couldn't rely on august for ripening

I think the seasons have shifted a month in the UK.

May in the new Aprill and September is the new August.

Unfortunately the average summer temperature seems to have decreased a little in recent Years too. Well the sunshine aspect anyhoo
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

I've got a lovely crop of broad beans sprouting nicely.

Haven't had any snow though!

It's just so unpredictable at the moment, but according to www.accuweather.com there is light at the end of the tunnel and temps are meant to go above double figures and stay there from about 3rd April onwards.....

So the growing season begins shortly.....

Regards

Wizzy

Hope they're right. If I don't get my spuds and onions in on Easter Sunday or Monday, it's going to be a good three weeks before I'll get a chance to get them in!

Sadly, the long-range forecast from the Met Office doesn't seem to agree with the Accuweather one at all. They're still talking about frost and snow into April, but that temps may start to recover to normal in the latter half of April. It's starting to look like a very short growing season, following on from the non-existent one last year. If it's another really bad one I can see a lot of farmers not surviving it.

Accuweather has changed it's mind now too.

Doesn't look like its going much over 6 degrees max day time for another fortnight :(
