My leg of lamb.
« on: March 10, 2013, 21:48 »
Here's was I managed to get from the leg, It was a whole leg I cut at the knee into 2.

Top
4 Roast dinners.
6 lamb sandwiches.

Bottom
4 C500 lamb stew.

Bones - top and bottom
3 C500 lamb / pearl barley soup.

It works out at just less than £1 per meat portion / meal, not bad really as Im not mean with the meat when slicing it either.

Next up is a 2.9Kg lump of pork loin, Im open to suggestion on making the most from it.

Personally as I am a pork lover I would cook it as whole joint then slice :)
I cook therefore I grow

mmmmmm. Roast Pork.  I'm with Sparky on this one.  Couple of roast dinners and sandwiches with apple sauce.  What's not to like.  Maybe a sweet and sour with some of the less than perfect slices.........

Pork makes a tasty curry too. :) I agree, I'd cook it as one whole lump then you can slice or cube/chunk the rest depending on how you want to use it.

It needs to produce 12-13 meals, that's a lot of roast dinners.

I've always found loin a little bland roasted but I'd certainly do a lump that way. Also on the list are some chop size bits in a spicy bean casserole.  I don't think I've ever curried pork though...

I must admit that I'm not keen on curried pork, but it makes a nice goulash  :)

Pork is the last meat I would have thought of using in a curry.  Must try it next time, usually only turn it into a sweet and sour type dish.  Goulash yes, but will try a curry.

Arugula is right it curries nicely ! so long as it has not been cooked too long in the first place "some people still murder it , a little juice coming out is fine  :)
