My partner has a very large shed/greenhouse on his allotment plot I would like to buy him 2 grapvines (one for eating & one for wine) there seem to be lots of varieties so if anyone has any advice I will be forever gratefull.  He will be planting them outside & growing them into the greenhouse, we live in chilly wet North Yorkshire

About 1/3 way down is a list of recommended vines.

Boscoop Glory seems to be a good desert grape.
You will want an early grape so that it gets time and sun enough to ripen in our climate.
Brandt is another variety but needs mnor sun then I suspect you will get.

I recall one called Buckland Sweetwater, and in a quick search one siite says:
Filled with large black fruits, another says
Small white sweet.

Actually seems to be a white grape.

I would go for either or both Flame and Lakemont.
They are both desert and seedless and grow well either inside or out in a sheltered position.

Not sure which to grow for wine though as you/we need a very hot summer to get enough sugars in them and N Yorks rarely gets that
