Frog virus please help!!
« on: March 16, 2014, 21:04 »
Help!!!

I saw a few frogs in my pond with a sort of virus on them, I've never seen it before and it doesn't look good.

Does anyone know what it is and if the frogs are goners?

I'd be gutted if it's fatal for them.

Thanks.

There is another link on that page to information about Ranavirus which goes on a bit more about how important it is not to move frogs, spawn or tadpoles.  So, if you have no frogs in your pond, do NOT be tempted to go and take some spawn from somewhere else.  If you have "too much" frogspawn DON'T donate it to the local duckpond/canal, just let nature take its course.  And if you find a frog in your garden and you haven't got a pond, don't transport it to the nearest pond, it found its way into your garden it can find its way out again if it wants to.
