I'm really impressed with the growth on my purple podded peas how tall will they grow and should I pinch them out at the top of canes? Last year I grew Kelvdon Wonder but they struggled.

A single moment of understanding can flood a whole life with meaning.

don't say that I've just planted three rows of kelvedon wonder!  Mind you the packet does say its a short growing pea so maybe you expected too much?

What variety are they?

I have no problem with Kelvedon Wonder!.....

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Mighty oaks from small acorns grow!

Not everyone has the space & time I'm fortunate to have.

The piccie was more to show that Kelvedon Wonder does grow!

So, back to the question, if we can find out the variety of purple pea Sir G. is growing, we hopefully can help further.

I thought that's what it was, purple podded pea. Or are there different varieties of them about?

I have not heard a pea yet that needs pinching out, but it doesn't hurt and if you have 6, you might as well. :)

According to this lady's blog, there are several cultivars, but few are named.

Googleing revels a few different varieties.

Leave them, they shouldn't need pinching out.
