snails
« on: July 20, 2012, 20:29 »
I have found the odd snail in side my greenhouse, they are big garden ones but how do they get there.
I close the door every evening but leave the top window open about 2 inches.
I can see trails on the out side of the roof leading to the window.
Is there anything i can put on the window opening to stop them?

You may find that they are living or travelling underground or hatching out of the soil, either your greenhouse floor or in pots.

If they really are coming in through the window you could try some copper tape perhaps?

I have had them in my hanging baskets before now!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

They do climb to a great height. Trees, walls, greenhouses - perhaps even mountains? They are  Upwardly Mobile Gastropods.

They are great climbers- I stayed at a hotel once that had had a customer complain about a snail coming in through the window of a attic bedroom!
The hotel was not really sure what they could do to prevent this (nor am I really), and the irate customer was demanding money off the room rate for the trauma!
Not sure I really class a snail as trauma in a hotel room, its much bigger trauma in my baby kale!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....
