I have a few hostas in my garden and last year someone came in my shop with a bag of hair clippings from our local hairdressers-  when I questioned her on why on earth she wanted hair she said she puts them in her garden around plants haostas etc.  so the next time I cut hubbies hair i sccoped  it   up and spread around my hostas  -   mind you they are in pots- and guess what?  it worked like a dream  the leaves were all in tact.  now this spring my hostas still seem fine-.  so the next time I cut his hair its going to be really short and he might look a bit funny but my hostas will look great.

We'll be calling you Sampson & Delilah!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I have used crushed egg shells sprinkled around my hosta's also.
I save the shells all winter in the freezer and come spring smash them up
and spread them around. They don't like crawling over them.

coffe grounds are doing it for me this year! However, I may call in at the local hairdressers and see if I can have some clippings. I try anything once! Sometimes even twice!!! That's a different forum though!!
I know less today than I did yesterday, and I knew nothing then!
