And here is little Caneli, the dog who was abandoned and pregnant-  she is a short legged Podenco (Podenco Maneto)  her parents were Podenco and Bodeguero, but Caneli is a Pod and no sign of a Bod in her!

Canell is so beautiful. I'd have her if I could. Well done you for still being able to do this, even after all the mess with the refuge and the Town Hall.

Caneli needs a special home as she can jump and climb and squeeze through a small gap!  She used to pee with fright if we just looked at her, now she is so good.  She can smile too.  Love her to bits.   :( :(

Tintin and Snowy are adopted,  Danny went to a foster home with a view to adopt, but was very traumatised-  not surprised, the transport up to Barcelona exceeded bad-  it took 48 hours.  In my opiniion the family did not give Danny long-  they asked for his to be removed within 48 hours as he was nervous-  they had been told he was a nervous dog and needed time-  he is now with his sister Snowy (she is adopted) and happy.  They will try to socialise him more and then find a new forever home.  Tintin is adopted and Jenny reserved for adoption-  she is supposed to be sterilised today, but will not let us put the harness on her, she is still nervous of being touched.  SHe has had a tranquiliser pill too!!
Caneli is still with us, looks like forever!

5 more pups found in the last month, a lady was fostering them for us, she runs a rescue-  one of the pups was badly hurt in an attack this morning, so we are having to find a home urgently.

Off to try to get the harness on Jenny and not get a bitten!!!

I do wish people would give these dogs more time, dogs dont understand what is happening when they are pushed from pillar to post. We think the little lad we took in on Tuesday has now lived in 5 homes (including ours) and he is only somewhere between 8 months and 1 year old. Luckily he fitted in with the other dogs straight away so we will be his last home, our Fred is here to stay  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

We managed to get Jenny to the vet, she had 1,5 tranquiliser pills!!   She is sterilised and wearing a collar,  today she is very jumpy,  so leaving her alone.  She came into our bedroom last night and looked about then went back to the living room.  The 3 puppies are out of the foster home,  the injured one had been to the vet,  he looked terrible,  so we (Jim, Yoli,  the president of the group and me went to get the pup)  took him to the vet who helps our group and he cleaned the wounds and gave her an injection.  He kept the clinic open for us.
So we now have 2 more puppies here,  we said no more!  Luckily they all get on. There were a few moans but now all ignoring eachother. The puppies have to meet our cats still.
The injured one is at Yoli's house,  he was going to a foster home but as his injuries were worse than we thought he is staying close to the rescue vet.
What sort of dog have you adopted Joy,  a big one I bet?

no he's a little one - well little for us anyway. He is a bull terrier x - but looks just like a bull terrier so we have sent his dna swabs off for testing. He is a right character and has fitted in brilliantly. So we are a 4 dog family - 2 giants hairy things - 1 x male 1 x female and 2 small ones 1 x female and now 1 x male - perfect  :)

Jenny is gradually losing her fear, she is much happier without her brother and sister here, Snowy was always the demanding one.  The foster for Danny did not work out,  so he has gone to a lady who is an expert with dogs with problems.  Danny is not a nasty dog, just so nervous of everybody.  He was happy with his sister, but the two of them were causing chaos and the neighbours were complaining about the barking! I think it is better he is away from Snowy, then hopefully he will gain in confidence.
We took one of the other pups we were fostering to the vet today, they (the vet and his fiancee) are off to Malaga and taking Celeste 2 (called that cos she is the image of another refuge dog Celeste!) to her new home.  The family have given her a new name, but to us she will always be Celeste 2.  She is such a gentle dog, so quiet and well behaved.  Her brother, we have named Tedy (spelt the Spanish way) was the bouncier of the two, but still well behaved,  he is still looking for his home.  We have not heard him bark at all.  He is good with our cats,  he wallked up to Miki, sniffed him and Miki tapped him twice with his paw,  claws not drawn,  Tedy screamed like a baby! He has a sausage type body, coloured like a Yorki, short legs and a big tan coloured  head, totally odd shape.  I will try to get a photo here later.
A lady I  ´know´ via FB and a rescue group  had taken in a very scared pregnant Podenco dog, she was abandoned, she took her to the vet to be checked and he said her heart was not coping with the pregnancy and her life could be in danger if she continued with the pregnancy, he advised an abortion. It was  luckily he did, the poor girl was carrying 14 puppies, the vet said it would have certainly killed her as the puppies were going to be big.
The injured puppy is fine,  he does not realise he has a bad wound on his neck!  He is now with his foster family recovering.
