Small * lump from the vent lots of blood
« on: March 06, 2010, 17:24 »
Hi,
last week one of my highbrid Amber legbars developed a small ( bout the size of a finger nail ) round lump that protruded from her vent and it was bleeding * ie dripping .
Had her in isolation as the others were trying to rip it to bits, no improvement after a few days and she looked lethargic and unwell so unfortunately I had to put her out of her misery.

Today another one has the same bleeding  lump !!! identical to the first. Just put her in isolation but would like to know what this could be and how to deal with it ?

they are both the same age and started laying about 3 months back, a good size brown egg but no bigger than the rest of my birds, fed on layers pellets , mixed corn and the odd treat.

       help please  :(

Alby  oh heck sorry didnt know the blood word was banned

i'm afraid the sticky just gives the cure and not the cause or syptoms.

Thanks TMG, never seen a prolapse before but it is what I imagine it would look like. Not a good prognosis is it .

Hi, its a bit odd you have 2 with prolapses so close together ???, is the lump definitely coming out of her vent, and not close to it?

I was thinking the same Dizzy, check when I go down again today. She looked bright enough when I let them out this morning but still a bit of a back end mess although the bleeding has stopped

washed her down and cleaned her up , the protrusion is from her bottom and not the vent. Tried to get it back in but failed. She seems to be in discomfort only when I touch the " lump ".

  Anyone any ideas ??
