Title: Suffolk mower.
Post by: Motivator on August 22, 2014, 21:05

Hi all , I have a suffolk pinch mower, with a tillotson carb fitted to it. Now the problem I have with it is it, hunts like made,
Now I have cleaned the carb in a ultrasonic cleaner , and tried another carb same type which has been cleaned,
Has anybody had any experience in setting one of these carbs up , as I at a loss to see why it runs so badly.

 Any advice is welcome

Thanks
Pete.

hi are you sure its a tillotson carb suffolk punches usually have amal or zenith carb,if it is a tillotson the with 2 jets like the ones on strimmers turn the jets out till they stop then turn in 1/8 of a turn at a time till the engine fires then set high running jet so that when throttie opened the blades turn the low running jet should be set so the engine ticks over without the blades turning, it might also the blades could tightened to close to the bottom blade check this with engine turned off and spark plug removed try  a piece of news paper between bottom blade and cylinder if the blades dont turn smoothly they are tight they should cut paper like a pair of scissors with out ragging   jezza

Thanks for the reply . The mower now runs fine. The governor plate was not attached properly.
Once fix on correctly runs lovely.
