can anythiong be grown under the beans ?

i put up my climbing french bean poles up last week and there is nearly 1 mtr of soil under the frame, can anything be grown there ?

quick early crop of lettuce?

Too late now, but an OB on our site grows an early row of short peas, which produce a crop before the beans get in the way of picking them.
