Title: Allotment clearing/reclaiming from dump run
Post by: Potterer on April 24, 2019, 07:09
HI. Our local council was clearing a very overgrown plot (very unusual and wish they’d cleared mine before I got it!). They had a fire going and I saw them putting a wood structure on it, too late, that would have been great for the base of a new wooden store on my plot... Anyway I went to see them to see if there was anything else and came away with 8 paving stones, a very thick good quality tarpaulin and lots of black membrane. I actually have plenty of membrane but saved it as I know a couple of plot holders are struggling with injuries and this would be great for them.
Unfortunately the council guys were just going to take all the stuff to the dump, which seems such a shame. At the very least membrane could be put down on cleared plots so they dont get too weedy before the next plot holder arrives. I hope to see the council guys again to check out if they’re going to clear any other plots!!

Hi, good you were quick off the mark. Seems a bit silly burning & dumping usable stuff, don’t they know about recycling or is it elf & safety gone mad again?
