Just got the keys for the new house, went last night and the orchard area is full of mole mounds. Now i'm not against moles but i'm thinking if i make some veg beds down there (which i want to do) i don't really want one popping up in the middle of it.

Any ideas for getting rid without killing them?!

I wouldn't mind but we back onto fields why couldn't they use them?!

I've seen sonic devices supposed to be for getting rid of moles but don't know how effective they are They cause vibrations in the ground the moles don't like.

Other than that I tink it's the trap or live with the chance of damage

just dig ya gardens over when ya ready then worry about the moles when they in the lawn .... you can use mle smokes to get rid . ( permanant  ) i dont suggest traps as they take a bit of knowledge in use .get down to the coast and buy 10 or so they kids windmill things and stick em in the lawn they deter them as well ,,,,, had a job trapping moles on great yarmouth training pitch .. the head groundsman ran the blooming traps over with a gang of three ,,,,,, buggered his mowers tho

Tried that, the sonic thing only works if the ground is damp / wet, and as I have very sandy soil short of watering the lawn every day it becomes a real pain in the watsit :shock:

I have three kids of my own not to mention their friends, plus two dogs running around the garden on a daily basis and still the moles hang around :evil: They must be deaf of stupid.

To make matters worse, both next door neighbours DON'T have kids/dogs running around, or have a sonic mole scarer, and they don't get half as many mole hills as I do. I never got moles until I returfed the lawn. Tried seeding but lawn seed, kids and dogs just don't go.

Are there any permanent cures to getting rid of moles, that are child and other animal friendly?
