No as long as they stay inside they are part of the decomp process, if you heap gets hot enough you cook the little sods anyway

i get lots of snails in the damper weather , would it help the compost process if i threw them on there instead of stomping on them ???

You definitely want to kill the little **** (Aunty woz ere) because they'll reproduce faster than you can blink. Next year will be all out war between you.

Was going to start a new thread but found this.  There are just so many slugs in our compost bin.  Really concerned about taking the ready compost out of the bottom to use in our beds - will it not be full of slugs and their eggs??  Want to try and keep slugs out of our new raised (v high) beds for as long as possible

i use nematodes
when i treat the allotment i save some for the heap .

i can only say that since using nematodes i have not lost a single leaf to a slug
nothing.

i listened to people telling me they didn't work and i treat every four weeks instead of six .

no slugs not one

and they are about
