I had a word with my favourite greengrocer in the week before Christmas and he got me an 18kg box of Sevilles as soon as they hit the wholesale market on 22nd December and had 2 brews under my belt before the festive break. Another 4 done before the year end and the complete range is now on the shelves! Just another 11kg to finish the box!!

what a lovely picture could fancy a bit of that on my toast home made there's nothing better buttered toast and marmalade god it makes me feel hungry just looking at it I'm dribbling at the mouth must go :lol:

Haven't been able to find any Seville oranges on the wholesale market yet this year, but Waitrose has them, at a rather high price of course! So OH bought me 5kg yesterday to get things going and I've done some Seville Orange Marmalade, Orange and Blueberry with Orange Liqueur, and Ginger. Next will be Whisky Marmalade and then Cane Sugar Ginger and Rum!!

You are all tempting me into marmalade making again AARRGHH!!! I still have some ruby grapefruit and some mixed citrus from last year...….
I do like the sound of preserved blood orange sin brandy though Snowy :D :D

Yes Sunny they have been lovely, I shall be looking for them again this Spring. I used a jar in my orange Christmas pud but I should have drained them well as it was a bit too syrupy this year.

I find that any jam or marmalade that is a little too thin to stay on bread goes really nicely in homemade natural yogurt.
Thanks for the seville reminder - I need to keep an eye open for them.

Yup, gotta get out and get some sevilles today...some people I know BUY marmalade :ohmy:, so I take pity and gift them some when they visit (and it does seem to be appreciated, not dreaded :tongue2:) I think orange & hibiscus, orange & star anise, and orange & apricot this time around...hmmm, must get crumpets, too.
Oh, another good use for thin marmalade: put some coctail sauasges, chipolatas or (my fav) some chicken wings in the oven and roast at 200C until lightly golden, then mix together 2TBS marmalade ,2tsp harissa and a bit of cinnamon & cumin, and cover the sauagaes/wings and roast until cooked through.

These were jars of sliced blood oranges in brandy syrup, but I agree a of marmalade in plain yogurt is delicious

To add to what Pescador said about the Seville supply this season on the 30th, our local independent fruiterer has confirmed they are not yet readily available at the wholesalers at a "sensible" price. They have been told to wait till next week.
