Merry Tiller update.
« on: July 12, 2007, 05:50 »
Re a post I placed on this board a while back, just thought I would place an update.  I have stripped the carb and given it a good clean, and am awaiting a service kit, but I actually have the machine running and idling quite well.  It was pretty tatty looking, but I have cleaned it up and given it a coat of black all over, because I already had the paint.  I know they are supposed to be red.  I even painted the blades!  The carb leaks fuel when the engine is not running, but apparently they do this quite a lot.  I get round this by turning the fuel tap off when I stop the engine.  There are probably a few things I could update, like the belt, but although a bit tatty looking it works OK.  The throttle cable has seen better days, but again, it works.  The machine only cost me £35 so do not want to spend any more than necessary on it.  I have picked up a set of transport wheels for it on Ebay, as there were none with it when I bought it.
So, I am just waiting for the Roundup to finish it's job on the plot, and I'll try it out.  Looking forward to that!
John.
Things is not as they used to was before they is as they am now, so why wallop yon horse with parachute?

the small ones are quite expensive but are a well worth the investment,
for ease of use and are very light and easy to use are the mantis types

you can pick them up for just over £100 second hand
