Manure question
« on: November 24, 2007, 22:20 »
Sorry to be a pain, but please can someone settle an argument?  How much (roughly) do people charge for manure, i.e. from stables including delivery? OH is insisting it's free, I'm convinced it isn't - as it's in demand!  I know I'm an irritating newbie, but would be grateful as can't find it on Google (surprisingly   )

I'm sure it varies but free for collection at the farm is fairly usual.  Delivery is never free.

Apparently the stables (riding school) down the road from me in London are selling it for £1 a bag!  I've ordered some 6x anyway, seemed expensive (£9.99 a bag and £6 for delivery!) but it seems easier that way (at least this year).

Pelleted chicken manure is good too and cheaper, get it from big diy store garden centres hardwarestore etc.

I can get loads of horse muck for nowt, but can't transport it in large quantities

Can't wait for the day I go to the allotment and then straight to work, so when someone asks me what perfume I'm wearing I can say Eau de poo!

If you'd have told me, 20 years ago, that at 11.30 on a Saturday night, I'd be typing away on a computer, with OH watching Match of the Day, and the cat demanding attention, and discussing the merits of poo........

That's what people keep saying about me (as I'm giving them free jars of home made jams and chutney!), I used to be a raver, now I spend my Saturday afternoons rifling through people's recycling boxes like a tramp looking for jars and plastic bottles!  Come home Saturday evening caked in mud and then spend Saturday night cooking, freezing and sorting anything I've picked, then crashing out.  If my friends want to see me most weekends, they know where to find me.  But you know what?  I love it!  Haven't done "proper" housework since, ooh about last March!! Also this year was the first year I only went away for 3 days, instead of my usual couple of weeks holiday. I used nearly all of my holiday allocation at the lottie.
