Tom's turning red.
« on: July 23, 2022, 09:52 »
Good morning everyone,  Gardener's Delight are on the turn and the Bue (Bulls heart), but not a good showing from the San Marzano.  I have the grand total of 2 toms on one plant!  It was saved seed so maybe a fresh influx next year.

Cheers,  Tony.   When are we going to have a decent amount of rain?
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

I’m envious! Crimson crush still very green, hope they turn before I go on holiday and
leave them to fend for themselves. I don’t fancy their chances if we get a return of the heatwave conditions.
Keep digging

I tried san marzano last year and even with our great summer they only did ok in terms of yield. Nice sauce tomato though. I am not going to grow them again

This year im trying some russian beefsteaks, they have just started ripening.  blooming butcher and sungold have already started ripening too

We've had over an inch of rain in the past day, was much needed

Cocktail Crush, Shirley and San Marzano...

SMs are always late, and this year is no exception!

I figure that because we had such a great Spring, and Summer has arrived with a 'bang', the plants struggled to get going at their own speed, and decided that trusses were going to be in short supply while they sorted themselves out!

Toms rely more on light than heat, and they certainly have both at the moment...
