How to create a Brassica Bed?
« on: May 06, 2013, 21:51 »
Hi All

Im looking to fill a small raised bed 4ft x 8ft for brassicas but all the compost etc I can find is ph 5.5
and not to be used for lime hating plants.

What can I do, what are the options?

This seems odd   PH 5.5 is acid so is what lime hating plants absolutely need.

but you're right brassicas wouldn't like it much. It sounds like ericacious compost - surely you can find some ordinary multipurpose to dig into the existing earth under the bed, add some lime on planting and you should be fine.
