Winter flowering pansies
« on: December 09, 2010, 10:22 »
I have about 300 winter flowering pansies which are in my potting shed, they seem to have flopped a bit in the recent weather but will they survive and have i missed my opportunity to plant them out?
If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

Mine out in the garden all flopped in the frost but as soon as they warm up a bit in the sunshine they perk up. :)

They are still selling them in the garden centers down here altho they have got them  outside. If yours are a bit soft from being in the shed perhaps you should leave planting them out until the spring or at least until its a bit warmer :)

300 you say, should be quite a show 8)

Do you have a lot of greenhouses? When do you plant yours out? Do you start them from seed? Are they all for you or do you sell them?

Sorry for so many questions im just intrigued  :D

I grow all mine from seed starting in November in plug trays. I use most of them and give some away to friends and i just have a very large greenhouse.

I fill all my plug cell trays with very fine compost then water them all well and then I leave them some place warm for a day or two normally the greenhouse the of an evening I sit at the dining table and start putting the seed in to the sell spaces then I put them back in the greenhouse and leave them till they have germinated......  :)
