Hi all one of my hens is making a funny noise, she sort of stretches her neck and makes a chocking noise iv felt her crop and that feels fine iv looked down her throat cant see anythink  anyone got any ideas

Has she been wormed recently Tony?

Does she normally cluck?, one of mine doesn't and sounds strange when she tries.

Couple of mine make a funny sort of trumpet noise!

Mine also make a trumpet sound when I first let them onto the garden. They also purr, mainly during dust baths...

I love my hen's various noises....  She has a contented croon when she has her half hour in the dog's bed every morning (she likes a morning rest somewhere warm and dark) and when I throw her treats onto the lawn she does an excited cluck while she pecks them up.

I wish I knew why she wants to peck at a mirror all day....

yes they have been wormed, she never realy clucked that much before  think its a trip to the vet for her

They usually are talking to the hen in the mirror and it appears to talk back! :blink:

Sometimes they do the neck stretching thing when they are moving food from the crop to the gizzard.

The only other thing i can think of is Gapeworm, is she breathing ok ?

Is her comb looking less red or a bit blue ?

yes its less red than the rest, she seems to be eating /drinking ok

Also she is on her own, so a reflection is company for her...

Took her to vet he didnt know much but checked her over and said she had damage to her crop caused by feeding live mealworms  He said all the food chucks eat goes to the crop first and if they goble up to many mealworms some can go into the crop alive  and will eat the crop before dieing

Just curious, how did the vet know she had damage to her crop caused by the mealworms. As you said he did'nt know much to start with...Aden...
