I've just received in the post a packet each of Sunburst F1 squash, F1 Swift sweetcorn, Ishikura spring onions and  F1 Sweet Million tomatoes. (All Mr Fothergills).

We all got the same then.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Me too!

Rather chuffed as was going out Monday to buy sweetcorn and some cherry toms.

Looks like a year of courgette/squash overload as already lined up 3 courgette varities and two pumpkin varities for the lottie, another one wont make a lot of difference!

p.s am aware of courgette gluts but we just love 'em  8)

I got mine too!
I only signed up because I thought the newsletter was a good idea, I never expected to get the seeds, my thanks to the OP
I think that going by  the letter that came with the seeds it is the first 10,000 this year, so the 40,000 figure is the total from years past.

Now I have about 10 varieties of sweetcorn, what do I do now?

Only plant one variety - especially if in close proximity.

If they are F1's, cross pollination can affect the quality of the cobs.

Doun souf you can get away with 2 varieties if you space sowings of the 2  a few weeks apart - then as varieties won't flower at the same time, they shouldn't cross pollinate.

Still try to keep them as far part as possible - difficult if other plot holders are also growing corn :(

Thats what I mean! will the seeds remain viable for 10 years?
I think I shall have to give them away.

the quality of the seeds goes down rapidly after just one year, so it's not worth saving them for long at all  :(
