Had lamb breast which was rather more like ribs yesterday, one of the last bits left in the freezer from when we last got a sheep.

And here is his dinner. The small of slow cooked brisket is enough to turn most (almost) veggies back to meat...gorgeous. But of course it didn't. Have to say, my hastily constructed nut roast was insipid in comparison if smell is anything to go by.

Thats what you call a dinner  Nothing fancy  just good home cooking and plenty of it

We're having braised beef skirt with yorkies, roasters and mash, carrots and runners

Beef and veggies home  grown so just the yorkies are outsiders

The wildfowling season starts on the 1st of September so that'll be the cheapest cuts of meat for us. I was looking in Sainsburys the other day, two duck breasts £6!!!!!
We have 3 freezers on the go (though ones the dogs becase we feed raw), the others are filled with geese, rabbits, pheasants, partridge, duck and whatever else comes from friends. We never waste any of it  :D

Same here.I'm good friends with the gamekeeper on the local estate so Iget a lot of ducks, phesants etc that aren't good enough to sell whole but theres always one side of the breast or something edible. He also saves me the phesant livers.Great in pasta dishes and pates MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm

Haveing looked at the picture of you'r OH's dinner Tosca I would formaly like to put myself up for you'r adoption.I'm house trained to a degree and good with children and animals

Thank you all for your comments. :D We don't really eat yorkshires every day, just happened to ask OH what he wanted.

Funny, he never says "salad" when I ask. ::)

Another real favourite of his is meat and tater pie, made with long-cooked shin. With suet pastry!

Tosca if you keep posting about these fab dinners you cook, you'll have half the forum clammering at the door

I know we have been moaning on other threads about the lack of summer and how autumn seems to be here already, but lovely hearty slow cook dishes must be one of lifes greatest comforts as the days draw in  :D

My OH loves lamb hearts, stew and dumplings, mince and tatties, pie of any kind - he's very cheap to feed  ;)

50p worth of shin, a tater, smidge of onion and a dab of home mede pastry, served with a pile of kale from the garden.

Looks yummy. Love shin in soup - a really economical winter dish and handy for when OH is out at football - the soup heats up really well.
