We have loads of horses round our way and the owners pick up the manure and put it into feed sacks and just leave it by the gates so we can pick it up as and when   Mind you I'd be a long time getting a heap like Muntjac's

Very impressed with your s**t piles Munty.
Out of interest, we have been offered a trailer-load of manure delivered for £30 for fresh, or £40 for rotted.
Is this a good price do you reckon?

I get horse muck for free, but a local farmer delivers well rotted cow muck to our plot at £15 for a trailer load.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

prices vary around the country .if you want the manure now  take the rotted stuff ,if not use the fresh and get it on ya plot to rot down over the coming year ... i always say it takes a couple years for manure to get to its best state .covered over with black plastic

I think I will get the rotted (its horse poo by the way). Everything is more expensive here it seems.

My late SIL donated the trailer section of her old trailer tent to her allotments. Anyone could borrow it (at their own risk) using their own plate on the back, and it was used for many years for manure runs and trips to the local dump. One of the more mechanically minded allotment holders kept it in running order, and the committee paid for new bulbs etc from the sundries budget.

Worth thinking about, if anyone wants to get rid of a trailer. Most folk with a tow hitch would be happer to tow a load of manure for you than have it put in the back of their cars!

Use your wheely bin put it in the back then shovel the manure in. Make sure you have it on a slant (front end up). When you get home shovel it out until eventually you can tip it out. Helps protect your back as there is less bending down getting it out. PS never tried this as i haven't got a car just an idea.
