As I said fatcat, this topic is about plastic pipe being used as hoops. Now just leave it there and start a new health warning topic if thats what you want to do.

If either the blue or black is run above ground and is for use of potable water it must be insulated to keep the heat down or you run the risk of legionaires diesease. So the water board official told us at our offices.

Not really relevant when you are making hoops for netting though  ;)

Exactlly! the purpose of my post was to make people aware that blue pipe could degrade over time when exposed to sunlight and gave my experience as to how I came by the information!
Disclaimer!! mine and others cattle drinkers are for cattle!! some are often fed from open springs and galvanized header tanks via a variety of pipe materials and often contain  tadpoles, gnat / mosquito lavae and the odd drowned mouse.  ;)

Just to add to the confusion & I hope it's allowed on the  Re: Blue water pipes for hoops thread! Ive got yellow pipe for my hoops 'cos it was free. Last year round here they were replacing the gas pipes. They'd got lots of different diameters but I asked for & was given the smaller size off cuts. It worked very well.

Lets face it, if it's free you wouldn't really be bothered about the colour of it, unless your name is Hyacinth Bucket!  :tongue2:
