My local freecycle limits posters to only one 'wanted' per month, not a bad thing as some people really do take advantage. It amazes me when people ask for things like laptops etc. At the moment, due to the recent floods in our area, the rules have been relaxed and three wanted ads are allowed per poster. It is amazing how many people have posted household things onoffer to help out those who have been adversely affected by the terrible floods.

I am usually too late when replying to offers though. I do think that some people must be watching the email replies all day though - I don't have time, better things to do with my time!
Never argue with an idiot, those watching might not know the difference!

i just got two hover mowers and .......wait for it ..... a 5 berth caravan off my local freecycle - (caravan was tatty - and i wanted it for my dad)

i always give a box of veg to people who give good bits for free - my dad was chuffed with the caravan - but he doesn't understand the freecycle community - he can't understand why people don't charge for bits.

i try to tell him about recycling - but that always falls on deaf ears.

I went to pick something up today to find it wasn't where I had been told and nobody home.    But, on the bright side around the corner I spied a builder putting in some block paving and all his bricks were sitting on pallets, around 20-25 of them!  So he has said I can go next week and collect them if I want them still, so it's in my diary to go and pick them up, assuming they haven't been skipped and broken up.  so 'every cloud..' and all that!!

If you can develop a good relationship with a builder specialising in roof conversions who will keep you informed of the skips they are filling with timber you will be able to construct anything, and they will save a fortune on skips (but I still give them bottles of home made wine/buches of flowers).

My local garage phones when they have a car (MPV) load of pallets that need removing (but ditto).
