is it like a shell less egg with just the membrane around the egg?
Staffies are softer than you think.

I have similar problem and have just been advised it might be either age of hen (mine is in her fourth year and laying well) or lack of calcium (found in oyster shell supplement). I have stopped giving scraps (due to rats) which coincides with problem of 'soft' shells. I shall let you know if it resolves itself,

this can happen sometimes and usually the hen will show signs of being off colour - it is very hard for them to lay eggs like this. Do they have access to a pot of crushed oyster shell? If she is very young it may be just a blip whilst her body is sorting its laying process out or if she is elderly she may have used most of her calcium reserves up so keep an eye on her.

I had this happen once in the first few days they started laying, it only happened the once so, as Joyfull said, just put it down to them getting themselves sorted while they're working out what to do! And it hasn't happened again, I have changed the way I give them the grit tho, just to make sure they're getting enough.
The glass is neither half empty or half full - it is simply the incorrect size! Find a new glass!
