Title: Marrow Rum
Post by: odd shapped veg on November 13, 2008, 19:40
Hi all, for the past 3 years I have been trying to make marrow rum. Without much success. Last year it tasted sherry like, this year it seems to be fermenting for ages. Any hints, tips would be good, or should I give it up as a bad job? :D

Tried various recipes a few times.
Gave up eventually.
Nothing came out of much use.

I tried it too, years ago: a waste of a marrow, barbados sugar and time. :( But maybe I just didn't do it right...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but best to give up - have never heard of a successful marrow rum.

Tried pumpkin wine once but that's another story...

Thanks for all your advice. Probably only told me what deep down I already knew. The reason I tried to produce it was because my brother-in-law produces marrows comercially and a worker, (sadly no longer with us) made some and It was great. I think he either knew the secret or had a lot more practice at it. :D

I make it, stuff marrow with soft brown sugar put in a stoking with a buket underneath and leave alone, simple as!
