I have a (single) redcurrant bush which produces masses of fruit. However, they don't all ripen together so I spend ages picking individual berries rather than picking a whole bunch.

Does anybody know a variety which ripens all the berries on a bunch at the same time? My plan would be to plant the new bush and then (in a couple of years if its successful) get rid of the old one.

Hi, I'm growing Rovada, it crops really heavily and the whole bunch ripens.

I grow 'Jonkheer van Tets' (seems to be sold as 'JVT' in some places). The berries on each raceme tend to ripen together, there are the occassional racemes that are way behind and still green but they are few and far between.

Thanks both. I'll look into them. Both are on the RHS website but Rovada seem to be container plants.

I know they say they are good for containers but this isn't exclusive.  Mine has been growing in open ground for 3 years and has done brilliantly, absolutely loaded with massive bunches of currants.
