<Apologies if this is posted twice - got a posting error when uploading the photo>

Went out to check on my pea progress this evening, looks like there may be something just peeping through.  Felt quite pleased having followed all of DDs rules  :tongue2: and advice, loadsa peas, nice zigzag, netted ... then spotted this growing where the peas should be

Think it's maybe a potato missed from last year?  Gave it a bit of a tug, but it was hanging on in there.... so what now?  Do I attempt to remove it and unsettle my peas or can I just leave them all to grow together (If it's a potato)?

Good chance it's a spud - the good thing about "volunteer" left-over spuds is that they are usually small and don't produce many new shoots - just dig it out if there's room or pull it out if not, it's unlikely to cause problems unless it's got hundreds of brothers and sisters!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

It's a spud.

I get them all the time!

Don't try & dig it out, just keep chopping it off.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Bloomin' spuds get everywhere!

But, even with chopping it off, will it still produce potatoes underneath down in the depths of the bed where its been lurking?  This year all my potatoes (except this one) are carefully tucked away in bags/buckets and tyre towers - that plan was to provide space for more peas ;)

Ah snailstogo I sympathize, I took over my plot early this year and it is full of potatoes, everywhere I dig, more and more of the things, some growing, some just a nasty, smelly surprise! I shall be very glad when I have found them all! :)

And then you find them in the compost bin, growing away merrily!
