rhubarb
« on: May 14, 2018, 17:37 »
Last year I was given some rhubarb which I planted and ignored . This year I've had a few sticks off it but now it has thrown up a flower.  Do I cut it off?  Seems a shame if the answer is yes as it's a lovely pink colour.  I've never grown rhubarb before so have no idea.

Happened to two of my crowns too. Remove them and give them a good feed to give them a boost too.

I think some varieties are more prone to flowering. I have a variety that is slightly later in the spring to get going and every year it sends up an early flower which I just chop off.

Seen a lot on the allotment this year that have gone to seed.  I've never seen rhubarb do that before but then I've never had a plot before either so seeing lots of new things.
