Hi all   
We have a broom which we planted about 8 years ago in a bed just outside
our front 6' fence & has looked great again this year. We've cut it back twice
but it's about 5' tall again & starting to look very woody .
When is the correct time to trim it back & how far can we safely go.
Any help will be gratefully received.
