I've been saving hard, and unbeknownst to hubby I could probably scrape together about £450.00.  So I was thinking it would make a marvelous early birthday present for him.

I've never spent this much in my life on him before... lol

So chaps,, and chapesses..

What would you buy?

depends if you want a new one or old one, the one we got (visible on our website) cost just 99p from ebay and a little tinker and got it working, so if you want a 2nd hand one (imho are better than new ones (more rugged)) then check ebay as they will be cheaper

I have flymo DM which is pretty old I'd imagine about 20 yrs or so. It's not a bad little machine at all, but it's only 3HP and I think more power would improve it's performance greatly.
I have been looking on ebay and watching A garden tractor and would like some feedback on it. I'm thinking of hiring myself out as a rotavator man    All depends on how much gruond you have as well, as much of the year it may sit around idle.

I like the look and spec. of these 2 front tine models - both within budget:

Hondas are reassuringly expensive. Might be better to get a good SH one

when you look close at these new machines you can see that the steel is realy light weight, just looking at the tines and you know they wont take much stick
feed the soil not the plants
organicish

Do you think this one is tinny..

Slightly over my budget, so it would stretch me... but then there's no rush to buy.

Complicated subject this is, well for me anyways.

dont get me wrong mandy i'm just compairing the older machines with these new ones,i dont think you will see many of these around in 20-30 years like you do with the tillers and the like.
the thing with a new one is if it goes wrong you have somewhere to take it back.

when they say "2 year homeowner warranty" what does that mean ?

I've just bought hubby a brand new shiney red honda :)

Its a FG315 with a GC160E engine and it purrs like a kitten.  It normally comes with a slightly smaller engine so this was a very nice deal.  It also comes with reverse as standard as well.

and after much haggling I got the chap down to £479.00 which is from my searchings on the net, quite good.

This FG315 is identical to the one I have bought.

hubby is tickled pink
