Ok, here's another test

And this is what I reported to T&M:

Hello folks
Thank you for the packet of Cascadia sugar snap seed. Due to my previous disappointing results with sugar snap compared with mangetout, I carried out another controlled trial. Perhaps you would be interested in the result.

The attached photo shows a 3- way trial, 6 seeds of each sown in individual pots and kept in one tray:
17 days after sowing:

Centre, mangetout Oregon Sugar pod
    germination 6/6, 1 weak plant

Left, sugar snap Cascadia
germination 4/6, includes 1 weak plant

Right, sugar sanp Sugar Flash
     germination 5/6, all weak plants

You can, of course, form your own conclusions from this. I would mention, however, that it does confirm my suspicions from direct sowings in the past couple of years which also indicate that earlier sowings in colder conditions results in much lower germination of Sugar Flash and of two other sugar snap varieties. It is tempting to suppose that this is generally indicative of a difference between sugar snap and mangetout. Unfortunate, since my family prefers the former.
