Has anyone tried making red currant gin? I've two bushes full and my mate says I can have his, so I might give it a go with the sloe recipe! 8)

I have made blackcurrant gin. Not worth the hassle when you can just add Ribena to the gin. :D
A batch of redcurrant jelly would be a better use. :)

Redcurrant vodka is better than gin. Gin has its own unique flavours and messing about with a bottle of good quality gin crime agianst humanity. Vodka, on the other hand, is pretty tasteless and needs all the help it can get.

Or make a redcurrant wine

I make blackcurrant rum - don't see why you can't do redcurrent vodka or gin

My recipe is :

300 grams blackcurrants which need to be lightly crushed
300 grams sugar
1 litre white rum

Shake up every day for 2 weeks, strain, then try to resist until Christmas  ;)  :lol:
