Try some Bantams. They also don't appear to be as destructive on your garden if you let them free range at all than full sized breeds. Having ex-batts as your first chickens is not usually a good move so i've read, but is definately a nice move. They need a little more TLC and need longer to get settled than POL pullets.

You can get all types of breeds in bantam form, are you planning to get a cockerel?

Typical answer as usual Bodger :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Hi Freshers,  hens don't usually make too much noise, they may let you know when they have laid an egg as they are so pleased with themselves :D  or when you let them out in the morning.  If you have a cockerel then thats a different matter
I would agree with Aggie that your run sounds ok for a couple of banties, are you planning on letting them free range :?:

Welcome to the forum & when you get them don't forget to post some piccies

hiya, ive got ex batts, a bantam and some hybrids of some kind. they are all about the same noise wise. if i was going for cute id go for bantams, but for me nothing beats rescuing ex batts, ours settled in really quick and weve never had any problems.
