I didnt want to ask because its probably something everyone knows

But we were just looking at a local chicken farm site and it had all the info about the chickens and the eggs

But which one is going to taste like the everyday eggs you buy in a supermarket.

Dont laugh its a serious question   I want my kids to enjoy the eggs and not say "I aint eating that"

My daughter loves eggs but when I brought duck eggs she tried the first one and wouldnt eat them again, apparently they werent right

They don't taste anything like duck eggs (a lot of people don't like them) and they don't taste like shop bought eggs.

They taste just WONDERFUL  :!:  Your children will love them - They make shop eggs taste like wet laundry  :!:

Any of the laying hybrids will be just what you want  :D

Thanks I am delaying the chickens until I feel I know more, hubby is making the house so I have time.

Another daft one but a hybrid isnt a sussex is it, the chicken man seemed to think they would be best

A light sussex is a pure breed a hybrid is a bit of a mix of several.
Mine are rhode island red x light sussex and look like this

These are hybrid warrens

There's a bit of a difference if you look but my RIRxLS are definitely bigger and eat more. It's all a matter of personal choice really but for a simple straight forward egg layer then a hybrid may be better less chance of broodyness etc,  my warrens where a lot more calmer and easier to tame than my present lot.
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.
