We use a lot of fresh ginger in stir fries etc and have recently planted up a piece that had a bud like growth on it.  I am keeping it well watered and it is growing nicely

Has anyone else had success in growing ginger, any tips would be much appreciated.

Mine is doing nothing - probably rotting nicely in the pot!!

MIne was doing fine until my neighbour watered it too much when I was on holiday and it drowned

Once it has developed new sections under the ground you can carefully scrape away the soil and carefully break these away to use.

I find it difficult to keep going through the winter though, even on the windowsill.

Thanks for that sunshineband.  I think I'd better pot it on soon into a bigger pot.  At the moment its growing really well.
