Hi, i am after your ideas for the best shallots for pickling??  To go with horrendously blue and smelly cheese of course!!!
If at first you dont succeed, have another pint...

Last year i grew Golden Gourmet,they were fantastic pickled.My better half put a spoonful of sugar in with them one week after pickling,this keeps them crunchy.They looked and tasted like pickled onions did when i was a kid over 40 years ago. :)

I've had success with them too.

Peppercorns or dried chillies thrown in give a bit of bite as well!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

We've picked up some Pikant sets from B&Q as they were suggested for pickling,£1.98 for 12 sets.

Should have gone to Brookside at Anstey. Far more for your money there & you can hand pick each shallott. Which reminds me.........
