I bought some San Marzano seeds last year and the grew so well and tasted so nice I saved some of the seeds. I was going through my seed box today and notice that the saved seed is huge when put along side the seeds I bought !!?? Anybody noticed this sort of trend in seeds they have saved. I can't help myself saving seed and normally get great crops from them.

Could it be that they aren't as dried up as the bought ones? Or a cross with some other variety? I do get variations where the seeds have crossed but not a common occurrence.

They were grown out in the garden alongside other varieties so they may have crossed. The seeds I ought are shiny and small whereas the saved a bigger and fluffy. The good thing is that I can compare the two now. I will post some photos of the results of the seasons growth and what the seed and  fruit look like.

I must say that when i save tom seeds they never look as clean or the same size as the originals in the packet.
