uneven set

ive made some redcurrant jelly which ive made b4 but this time some jars are set perfect but some are a bit runny.its all out of the same batch which was 1 litre of juice.all in the same pan good set on saucer etc

anyone know why ?

If it was all the same batch, I can only think of a couple of questions... Were the jars dry? Did anyone "play with" the jars as they were setting?

I don't think temperature when opening the jars would affect it. Perhaps if the jelly was only *just* at setting point, the first few jars filled might be a bit thinner than the last few that had lost more water while waiting to be filled.

I should add I am just guessing here.

the answer to both questions is no.
i did turn the ring off tho while putting into jars.should i have kept it cooking ?

No, once setting point is reached you should take off the heat. No answers as to why some should set & not others. I usually let mine sit a few minutes, then stir before putting in the jars.

Ive had jams which i thouht were looser and weeks later they are solid , dont like runny jams .
