marrow + courgette problem

marrow + courgette problem

Hi,  anyone else planted out marrow and courgette, only to see them not grow a jot, but put up male flowers???  Any ideas whats going on?!!

At a guess they have probably been in their pots a long time. Leave them be and I am sure they will grow. You could snip off the male flowers, it might make them put energy into leaf production.

I usually find that they throw up a lot of male flowers at the start before any females appear.  Then before you know it you are inundated with courgettes!!

They often seen to do this when planted out. It seems to be the way they sulk. As others have said, give 'em a few weeks and you'll be inundated.

Maybe a silly question, but how do you know which are male and which are female flowers??? :unsure:

The female has a small courgette behind the flower, the male, just a thin stalk.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
