Novice garlic question
« on: August 06, 2013, 17:54 »
I planted elephant garlic this year and out of the 5 cloves I planted I have 2 garlic bulbs.

Well the question is if I decide to try and grow some more can I use one of the bulbs I have pulled today?

If I can use this bulb do I have to dry it out first or can I just seperate it into cloves and plant them straight away? As in over the next few days

Leave them all to dry out in a sunny but also a bit shaded spot in the shed,  then in October split them up and plant the individual cloves out. If they have not formed cloves and is still a round solid ball like an onion just plant it and it will grow into a big elephant (garlic) and will have some cloves. Two of mine this year had not divided into cloves.. or They can also be eaten and then you have to find a few more cloves in October  :D

What happened to the other 3?
